CO2 laser for plastic bottle marking
The primary materials of plastic bottles (such as PET, PE, and PP), as well as the coatings and inks on the bottles, have a very high absorption rate for 10.6μm wavelength lasers. A very thin layer on the surface of the material is instantly vaporized (ablated) or undergoes chemical structural changes (such as foaming and carbonization), leaving a permanent mark that aligns with the laser scanning path.

Marking on bottle:
Light-colored plastic bottles (such as transparent or white) are typically foamed (creating tiny bubbles) on the surface with a laser to create a white mark. These bubbles scatter light, making the mark appear white.
Dark-colored plastic bottles can be carbonized by lasers, creating a black mark. Alternatively, lasers can remove the colored coating by precisely controlling the energy, revealing the underlying white material and creating a contrasting color.

Notes:
Material Compatibility: Not all plastics are suitable. Plastics containing chlorine (Cl), such as PVC, will produce toxic chlorine gas when vaporized by laser light and are strictly prohibited. Some ABS plastics may produce slight smoke and dust during marking, requiring a good exhaust system.
Parameter Adjustment: Different plastic materials, additives, and colors have different laser absorption rates. Parameters such as power, speed, and frequency require careful adjustment to achieve optimal contrast and minimize damage to the bottle.
Ventilation and Dust Removal: The marking process generates trace amounts of smoke and gas, requiring dedicated exhaust and dust removal equipment to maintain a clean working environment.
